“Fly Free Lolita”, part of BLOOD+LINES. Graphite on canvas with yarn, 8” x 8”. Lolita was captured when she was 3-6 years old and had spent 50+ years at the Miami Seaquarium. It was announced in early 2023 that she’d be released back near her home waters, but she died before that could happen. I’m so sad that she never got to feel again the vast open waters of her home after spending almost all her life in a very small enclosure.
